The Great Escape Oz 2020

Previously called The Great Escape since its maiden voyage in 2002, The Great Escape Oz provides a new format for what has been a successful motoring charity event for the last 18 years.

The new 7-day format enables people to take just a week away from work or family, travel with someone from your workplace, or travel with your partner or family to share the unique opportunity of seeing this great wide land all for a good cause.

The short, fun-filled days allow crew members to weave in and out of some interesting spots not normally found by your average cavalcade. Shorter days on the road also gives them time to take in the beauty and history of the areas we travel through or fix the car (if the need arises!).

While you will certainly see your fair share of dirt and dusty roads, you’ll also see some fascinating sights and towns and meet some incredible Australian characters along the way. You’ll get home exhausted, but this will come from laughing, smiling and keeping up with all the outrageous activities we have in store for you.

The Great Escape Oz will continue to forge a unique identity as a friendly, laid-back motoring charity event that caters to people from all walks of life, all with the sole purpose of having FUN and raising funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis through the CURE4 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

A message from the Track Boss - Terry Stewart

Track Boss, Terry Stewart has taken over The Great Escape Oz after having led the Great Escape for 18 years and being the co-developer of the event way back in 2002 with Jamie Lawson. Terry was the CEO of Cystic Fibrosis Australia - a position he proudly held for 13 years before his retirement. But retirement isn’t slowing down the Track Boss - not by any means.

“Having been part of the rally for the last 18 years, I didn’t want to see such a great event come to an end, as I know from personal experiences the joy and hope that it brings to so many CF families.

We still have so many hidden treasures and remote parts of our incredible Australian backyard to visit, not to mention the contributions we can continue to make to raising funds and awareness for CF.

The Great Escape Oz is a car rally that’s a little different, a little unpredictable and a lot of fun, so I look forward to seeing you out there on the road!”
